Mark your calendars, Hoosiers! This week, from March 10th to 16th, 2024, we’re observing Severe Weather Preparedness Week across Indiana. A timely reminder, as since 1950, our state has witnessed more than 1,400 tornadoes.
Governor Eric Holcomb has officially proclaimed this week as a critical time for awareness and preparation. This annual initiative, a collaborative effort between the Indiana Department of Homeland Security and the National Weather Service, aims to arm Indiana residents with the knowledge and tools necessary to tackle the severe weather conditions that can hit our state.
This week serves as the perfect occasion for all of us to review and update our emergency plans. It’s a chance to ensure we’re fully equipped to face any severe weather event head-on. Let’s use this time educate ourselves on the measures we can take to stay safe.
Remember, preparation today can prevent the panic of tomorrow. Let’s come together to make Severe Weather Preparedness Week 2024 a resounding success, ensuring the safety and well-being of our communities.
TORNADO SIRENS: As a reminder you will hear the tornado siren test in the Town on Tuesday, March 12.
