PRESENT: Council; Elmer J. Mast, Lynn M. Bontrager, C. Arlene Lazzaro. ABSENT: Council; Tad T. Hite, J. Mike Wilcher. PRESENT: Staff; Robert W. Shanahan, Todd Thurber, Sean Neeley, Xane Moore, Ruth Ann Downey. Public; Mike Goodman, Brian Amor, Marcus King, Christian Baybutt, Andy Pagels, Robert Dahmu, Dean Brougher.
Council President E. Mast called the meeting to order. Noted that Council Members Tad T. Hite and J. Mike Wilcher were absent with all other Council Members being present. E. Mast thanked everyone for coming. Agendas were available.
- Shanahan noted that the purpose of this meeting is to open bids for the SR 5 South Improvement Project and for new Public Restrooms.
DLZ Engineer, T. Thurber reported that the bids will be opened, read out-loud and taken under advisement. We hope to award the bids at the December 27th Town Council meeting. We will begin with the bids for the SR 5 South Infrastructure Improvement. R. Downey opened the bids and T. Thurber read the bids as follows:
Niblock Excavating of Bristol, IN $935,215.00; Selge Construction Company, Inc. of Niles, MI $1,063,180.15; HRP Construction of South Bend, IN $878,000.00; API of Laotto, IN $798,622.50; and Beer & Slabaugh of Nappanee, IN $1,028,927.30.
- Thurber noted that this concludes the reading of the bids for the SR 5 Infrastructure Improvements. Next bids for the Public Restroom project will be opened and read. R. Downey opened the bids and T. Thurber read the bids for the Public Restroom project as follows:
The Robert Henry Corporation of South Bend, IN $544,500.00; R. Yoder Construction of Nappanee, IN $636,500.00; and D & S Builders of LaGrange, IN $615,500.00.
- Thurber reported that this concludes the bid opening for the Public Restroom project and thanked everyone for coming.
MOTION: C.A. Lazzaro made a motion to take all bids received at this meeting under advisement to allow time for review of the bids with recommendations from DLZ to be brought back to the Council at the December 27, 2018 Council meeting. L. Bontrager seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Discussion followed. It was pointed out that the Public Restroom bids came in over the engineering estimate and two bids for the SR 5 South project came in under the engineering estimate.
There being no further business to come before the Council, E. Mast asked for a motion to adjourn.
MOTION: L. Bontrager made a motion to adjourn. C.A. Lazzaro seconded the motion. Motion carried.
